17:28 World War 1 Woodrow Wilson was president of Princeton University before getting into politics Elected in 1912, took office in 1913. He was considered a progressive. Pressed for domestic reform, although this did not happen. He was dragged into many  crises abroad. The two major alliances were the Triple Alliance, Austria-Hungary, Italy, and Germany,  and the Allies, Great Britain, France, and Russia. German U-boat attack on the Lusitania, the Zimmerman note in 1917, and several other  ships being sunk by u-boats, caused congress to declare war. The 1917 Selective Service Act instituted a draft. General Pershing was chosen to lead the troops into Europe.  When the American arrived they found they were in a stalemate Mexican Revolution A socialist revolution. Many Mexicans feared Mexico was becoming capitalistic. Mexico achieved its independence in 1821, although the Mexican political system was
