The primary dependent variable of this study was student compliance. The dependent variable was defined as the completion of an instruction that a teacher or paraprofessional provided, within 10 seconds of the initial instruction. Additionally, modality acceptability and treatment integrity were measured.The primary dependent variable was not clearly defined. It was located under the systematic direct observations section. The dependent variable was generally well defined, but a more direct section could assist with locating the dependent variable more easily such as using headings. The independent variable of this study was three-step prompting. Three-step prompting was clearly defined as a method of prompt hierarchy progression (least to most).
