Lab Report 12 – Emergency Calculations MEMO TO: Company Drilling Department FROM: District Engineer RE: Emergency Well Control Calculations About thirty minutes ago Rig No. 10, operating in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana, took what appears to be a significant gas kick. The well has been successfully shut in using the annular BOP. Several hours will be required to increase the mud weight and prepare to kill this well using the Wait and Weight Method. The Drillers Method could be used as an alternate. Please compute the allowable maximum shut in casing pressure before the casing shoe is fractured.
