Top Ten List for Longhorn Success The wisdom and insight we gained from students can be summarized by a few key principles for success. At the heart of student success are these words of advice. Rule #1 Go to class - every day. If you don't go to class, you may have a very difficult time succeeding at UT. Professors and instructors use class time to present new material, explain difficult material, make assignments, point out what is important to learn and help you prepare for tests. It is also important to go to class prepared. Review your notes before class. Have any assigned readings completed. Bring with you any needed materials for class. Take notes and/or record the lectures, if necessary. Rule #2 Rule #3 Rule ##4 Study. Do the work! Learning takes effort. Decide what grade you want to earn in each class and find out what you must do to earn it. Monitor your progress to see if you need to adjust your efforts or seek help from your professor, the Learning Skills Center, or a tutor before its
