He was the CEO of Goldman Sachs since 1999 and was appointed as the Secretary of Treasury at 2006 and served in Treasury until 2009, during which United States was under financial crisis. There were a few issues that he talked about during this lecture, including the financial crisis while he was serving as the Secretary and world economy in relation to US economy. First topic was his role during the financial crisis. On the topic of social benefits of Wall Street vs. social cost, he argues that he supported the strong capital markets, which is the basic pillar for prosperous economy in US, future job expansion and economic growth, and good credits.
