Homework 9 Sehoun Kim PID: 713753538 Inside Job During 2007 and 2009, United States, as well as the entire world, went through the toughest financial crisis since the Great Depression in 1930’s. This documentary Inside Job reports the events leading up to the crisis as well as the results from it. Even though the crisis peaked at summer of 2008, the precursory to the crisis started in 1980’s. As the banks got bigger and more powerful, they started have more influence in politics. Many political figures involved in banking industry started to deregulate the policies and regulations on banks, including lowering liability ratio limit. Beginning of 1990’s, this deregulation and improvement of technology led to increasing number of derivatives and complex financial instruments, which made economy more unstable. Banks again used political influence to stop the government from regulating these products. Examples of these include CDO(collateralized Debt Obligation) and credit default swap, which played
