I do not believe our views on religion should reflect how we treat others. This being said, our views do actually affect how we treat others. Not out of personal opinion, but from observation, most Americans have a negative view of Muslims. Likewise Muslims have a negative view of Americans. I believe this is due to the association of events that occurred on 9/11. I do believe humble generosity is present in today’s world. Personally, I have seen many elderly persons in the church practice the same act as the widow in the story. Most often, these people have been valued members of the church for many years.

Unformatted text preview: I believe a more modern way of bringing the same point across could be more current issues with the Catholic Church. I would replace the scribe with a bishop and the widow with a young pulpit boy. The molestation that was happening in the Catholic Church a couple years ago was an atrocity. These preachers stood in the pulpit preaching fire and brimstone, yet practiced the devils works in the dark. These young boys kept quiet about what was going on until they were forced to reveal the happenings. This loss of innocence was shameful! I believe this example could be used to get the same point across as the “Who Is Holy” story....
