PSY Week 5 DQ 1 I believe both nature and nurture have influences on the development of behavior in individuals. Nature is looked at as the hereditary factors while nurture is looked at as environmental issues. Although I feel both nature and nurture play a vital role in behavior, I feel nature has a more predominant influence. Take for example the twins from this week’s readings. How amazing is it that a set of twins, separated at birth, still developed such amazing similarities? I feel some this are just distilled in us at birth. Another example of nature working is someone who is shy. Some children are just born demure and others are born outgoing. My niece is the perfect example. My sister was very shy when she was younger, and now her daughter is also! I did not know her

DQ 2 I feel that whoever rears a child has the most impact on that child’s social development. This goes with the “attachment” bond mentioned in this week’s readings. Not only do parents/caregivers have an influence on children’s development, but so do grandparents, aunts, uncles, anyone the child has regular interaction with. It is the parent’s responsibility to raise children with a good self image, good discipline, and the ability to help others. Parents should lead by example! Today’s society is in the shape it is now because parents have lost sight on what is important....
