According to this week’s readings on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, a person must first reach their basic physiological needs such as water, food, sleep and sex before they can reach their other needs. The second needs would be safety, followed by love and belonginess, then esteem needs, and finally self-actualization needs. Maslow states that one has to be met before another is achieved. I can fully understand Maslow’s Hierarchy that in order for the higher needs (self- actualization and esteem) one must first achieve the lower needs of (safety and physiological). Unformatted text preview: quality of life or actually no life at all. Sleep, food, and water are basic needs the human body needs to function. The most challenging need for me to achieve is esteem. I am going on 28 years old, have been married for 12 years this July, and have four children; not to mention I am the oldest of 3 siblings. Everyone elses needs have always come before my own. I am just now at the point in my life where I say, What is going to make me feel worth? That is mainly the reason I am attending school again, being able to provide a better quality of life for my family is what makes me feel worth....
