Problem 1 Select the sizes (displacement) of a pump and a motor for the system shown in figure. Determine the required input torque when the relief valve pressure p 0 is set to 21 MPa and pump rotation speed is np = 2000 rpm. The hydraulic motor should have rotation speed n m = 5 rev/s at load torque T m =100 Nm. Ignore volumetric and hydraulic losses (use ideal relations for hydrostatic pumps and motors). Consider that it is in general convenient to minimize the size of the units. To do that, it is necessary to choose system operating pressure as high as possible (choose a pressure slightly lower than p 0 ).
