Nursing Communication Review Test 3: -Open ended vs. close ended questions -Purpose of therapeutic communication: Facilitate and maintain a relationship that is helpful to the patient. -Crisis Intervention: What is crisis intervention? Crisis intervention is specific, brief, therapeutic technique that is supposed to help a patient be restored to their prior state of health There can be a maturational/developmental crisis at times of adolescence, marriage…There can be situational crisis—lost job, something bad happened at school. There can be an adventitious crisis--- hurricane? -The primary goal of crisis intervention: Re-establish their equilibrium The first time you are interacting with them, you want to REDUCE ANXIETY. Crisis versus normal ups/ downs- normal coping skills aren’t working anymore Physiological symptoms of anxiety: upset stomach, cant concentrate, cant remember things, agitation, crying. Be directive. Say ”we will get you through this…let’s see who you have as a support system”. Real directive in crisis intervention.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
