: _____________________________ Lab Partner(s) : ________________________________________________________________________ Law of Conservation of Mass Mass of Reactants = Mass of Products Reaction 1 : Fill a clean test tube about 1/3 inch of silver nitrate. Add a piece of copper. The products are copper (II) nitrate and silver metal. Record all of your observations. Balance the equation. Write the coefficients. Observations Balanced Equation Coefficients ___ AgNO 3 + Cu ____ Cu(NO 3 ) 2 +____ Ag Reaction 2 : Fill a clean test tube 1/3 inch of hydrogen peroxide ( H 2 O 2 ). Add a small (and I mean small) pinch of the catalyst. A catalyst causes the rate of a reaction to change, in this case, go faster. The products are hydrogen gas and oxygen gas. Record all of your observations. Balance the equation. Write the Observations Balanced Equation Coefficients _____H 2 O 2 ____ H 2 + ______O 2 Reaction 3 : Add 2 -3 mL of potassium iodide (about 1/3 ) inch in your test tube). Add 5 drops of silver nitrate.
