The organisms that would have been tested for that exercise were Bacillus megaterium and Micrococcus luteus. The shape of Bacillus megaterium would have been bacillus and the shape of Micrococcus luteus would have been coccus (1). For the smear stain exercise, the organisms tested were Bacillus megaterium, Micrococcus luteus, and Escherichia coli (E. coli). Bacillus megaterium and Micrococcus luteus both showed a purple color.
