Unformatted text preview: 1 Beginning LaTeX is a typesetting system which is very popular with computer sci- entists, engineers, mathematicians, physicists etc. It is especially good for mathematical work, but is also used by many nonscientists. It offers far more flexibility and beauty than you get in usual word programs. Instruction for LaTex environments LaTeX system → Compiler (package) + Editor, and there are many op- tions in choosing both of the combinations, depending on the OS you use. Here I introduce three typical cases of using LaTeX. 1. Linux If you have your own Linux machine, firstly check whether a TeX system is installed including LaTeX in the system. It can be simply checked by a script ‘ > latex -v’. 1) If not installed, you can install it using the ‘ TeXLive ’ - LaTeX im- plementation pacakge :-Ubuntu: ‘ >> sudo apt-get install texlive’-Fedora/RedHat: ‘ >> sudu yum install texlive’ 2) Choose your TeX file(.tex) editor 2-1) vim, gvim are strong text editors, also available for TeX edit.are strong text editors, also available for TeX edit....
