9/9/10 BLAW 3391 Self defense is the best method if you are in danger or your family is in danger A man’s home is his “castle” – If someone comes into your house uninvited, you can shoot them Criminal Procedure 1. You get arrested, you get taken down to jail 2. A judge will tell you your charges and what your bail is 3. You have a hearing with a preliminary judge which classifies is you have charges that can be filed against you 4. Leads to an arraignment with your lawyer when you are informed of your charges against you and enter your plea 5. Charged, tried or let out on bail or plea bargains Grand Jury indictments- DA goes before the grand jury and presents the case and all the facts and asks for the grand jury to indict a person for a crime. Most times they will not indict a person. If a person does go to the grand jury, they go on their own and cannot take their lawyer. Forgery - The alteration of any document that alters the liability of another person. Ex: changing a contract
