02.06 Supporters of the War 9/8/2020 Ranking of the Largest Contribution: 1. Women 2. African Americans 3. Native Americans Women I think that the women made the Largest Contribution. Because” Women took care of the soldiers, some women disguised themselves as men so they could fight. Some women even became spies for the military. While most women stayed home, hundreds of women became camp followers during the American Revolution.” Women provided a lot of help to the military. African Americans I think that African Americans were the 2 nd largest Contribution. “African Americans as many as five thousand African American freedmen and slaves joined the Continental Army.” African Americans were promised freedom in exchange for them fighting the American revolution. They fought on the American side and the British. Native Americans I think that the Native Americans made the least Contribution out of the Women and African Americans. Because they just wanted land. “At the beginning of the Revolution, the American colonists and the British tried to gain support from the Native Americans. The British told the natives that if the Americans won, they would spread out and continue to settle on Native American lands. The Americans told the natives they were fighting for
independence and protection of land.”
