Jackie Gaylis ID: 1679998 Assignment #8 Family Health Risks: Based on my family tree shown above, I am at risk for Type 2 Diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure. Diabetes runs on my mother’s side of the family, and I was once pre-diabetic from being overweight, which means that I am definitely at risk for diabetes if I do not keep the weight off. High cholesterol and blood pressure also run in my family which is another reason why I need to watch my diet and food intake. Five Steps To Maintain My Health: 1. To prevent high cholesterol and blood pressure, I should have the doctor check if I am in a healthy range and consistently know these important numbers. My LDL should be less than 100 and HDL should be above 60. My total cholesterol should be less than 200. My blood pressure should be 120 over 80. It is said that “All adults regardless of family history should have their blood pressure and cholesterol levels checked at least every two and five years, respectively.” – University of Utah
