EXPERIMENT 7_SUPPLEMENT This supplement contains graphical and tabular data intended to help you better understand points of emphasis in Experiment 7. A. EFFECTS OF ENZYME ACTIVITY 1. Graphical illustration Figure E7-S-1 illustrates effects of different enzyme activities on the first- order component of absorbance vs. time responses for a fixed glucose concentration. Although initial rates are very different, maximum values of absorbance approach similar values. 2. Numerical comparison Table E7-S-1 gives numerical data illustrating effects of enzyme activity on initial rates and equilibrium absorbances for data in Figure S-1. Errors for the initial-rate option are about 10-fold larger than errors for the psedo-equilibrium option. Table S-1. Effects of enzyme activities on initial rates and equilibrium absorbances for a fixed glucose concentration (14.4 x 10 -5 mol/L). Enzyme activity Differences (%) Enzyme activity (U) Initial rates (10 -4 au/s) Maximum absorbances (au) Initial rate Maximum
