Justin Kucera Psych 211 Section 002 January 26, 2012 NFL Play 60 If you have ever watched a National Football League game in the past year then it is a safe assumption that you have seen a commercial that involves an NFL team and a lot of young people . Those ads are for the NFL Play 60 campaign. This is relevant throughout the year and is even highlighted during big events such as The Super Bowl, the Pro Bowl (the NFL equal to an All-star game) and Thanksgiving Day . Most pro sports leagues have a Non-profit organization that they support heavily . What makes this unique is that it was started directly by the NFL. Relatively new, NFL Play 60 was launched in 2007, and to date, the NFL has dedicated over $200 million to youth health and wellness . The goal of this organization is to reverse the fairly new trend of childhood obesity . With all the technology of today, American youths are experiencing a higher obesity rate than ever . The NFL looks to reverse this trend by encouraging kids to play and exercise for 60 minutes every day
