GEORGE'S UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF MEDICINE, Defendants No. 86 CV 1368 Facts of the Case – Rose Gehling, mother of the decedent, is bringing suit against St. George’s University Medical School as a result of her son’s death. On April 18, 1982, Earl Gehling took part in a race of approximately two and a half miles on public roads on the island of Grenada, West Indies. The race took part in the late afternoon on a hot (80-85 degrees F) and humid day. Gehling was a 25-year-old man, who was said to be 75 pounds overweight.
