Sara King 11/18/10 Research Journal “Do economic recessions really lead to spikes in crime?” Among five sources for my topic, I chose “Do economic recessions really lead to spikes in crime?” Like a topic, the article questions whether it is an economical problem that leads to increasing crimes. I picked this topic because it specifically talks about the relationship between the economic recession and the crimes. All of the answers I am trying to find for my topic are almost in here: robbery increasing in New York, the increasing amount of crimes in the Great Depression, and etc. The article has many examples of why the economic recession is related to the increasing crimes. The author of the article got the sources from Scientific American. The article has listed many historical facts and results of the economic recession. The best example would be the time in the Great Depression. After the stock market has crushed, in 1929, the crime had increased as well. The people who committed crimes were not people who were
