Individual homework solutions will be assigned scores between 0 and 5 based on the following guide: 5: The solution is completely correct and well-written. 4: There is a minor oversight or the solution is not well-written. 3: Most of the correct ideas are present but something is wrong. 2: There is an attempt at a solution but the attempt contains major flaws. 1: The student’s work provides little to no evidence of a serious attempt at a solution, or else the student’s work indicates a serious and funda- mental misunderstanding of either the question being asked or of the content or methods necessary to answer the question. 0: There is no attempt at a solution. To earn extra credit for a solution to a Challenge Problem, you must earn a score of 3 or better. Producing a well-written solution takes time and effort.
