Syllabus for FIU Introduction to Hydrogeology ( GLY 4822 ) Spring 2012 Instructor: Dr. René M. Price Office Location: ECS 340 Contact info: phone: 305-348-3119; Email: pricer@fiu.edu Office hours: Mondays 10-11 am/Thursday 1-2 pm or call/email for appointment Website: www.fiu.edu/~pricer Text Book: Physical Hydrology, Second Edition (2008) by: S. Lawrence Dingman Textbook includes a CD that will be used for homework assignments. Students will need access to a computer that can read the CD. Other Requirements: Students are expected to bring a calculator to class every day. Learning Outcomes: Students will have an introductory understanding of the water cycle, the flow of water through porous media, and methods used to measure water flow throughout the hydrologic cycle including groundwater flow. Homework Assignments Approximately 6-8 homework assignments will be required during the semester. These assignments will mostly be problem solving assignments that will require a calculator and/or computer. Homeworks assignments are due 1 week from the date they are assigned. Homework assignments that are turned in past 2 weeks from the date they are assigned will not be collected. You are expected to do your homework independently.
