How can you create an effective classroom climate according to the textbook? Communicate acceptance, caring, and respect for every student. Create a sense of community and belongingness. Create a goal-oriented, businesslike atmosphere. 2. Why is having a sense of classroom community important? How does this relate to Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs? When there is a sense of community students seem to be enthused about classroom activities and learning in general. When a sense of community is sensed students will experience less anxiety and are more likely to stay on task. This relates to Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs, in which one must feel like they belong, because once a student feels like they belong they are more active and engaged and can move along the hierarchy. 3.
