Unformatted text preview: Op-ed Revised versionSocial Networking a Blessing, Not a CurseThe development of social networking over the past few years, can easily be referred to as revolution. Social networking sites such as Youtube, Facebook, and Twitter, have become prominent forces on our society and have significantly impacted our lives and the way that we communicate with others. Despite its many benefits, there has been much controversy surrounding social networking websites. They are constantly criticized in regard to privacy issues, the presence of children on the sites, and for wasting peoples time that could be spent in more productive ways. While all of these criticisms may be somewhat valid, the benefits that social networks provide users clearly outweigh the negative aspects. Social networking websites possess a wide variety of functions, and have created an online community that provides users with many opportunities.
