The higher the socio economic status of the parents, the better outcome of the child’s  income, education, etc.   lower the change the child will have a TB because they are  more likely to use contraception and have a higher probability of getting an abortion Teenage birth may actually cause the bad outcomes to happen because teenage  mothers have less time to devote to education, and therefore cant make as much money  because they cant get a good job later in life Birth rate is higher in rural communities Does Teenage Childbearing cause Disadvantage? Geronimous and Korenman (1992) Compare sisters with and without teenage birth Sisters have the same parental and socioeconomic background, they are comparable in  this respect (no selection) Finding: Women with TB earn significantly less later in life than women without TB but  they don’t earn less than their sisters without TB
