LO: Acute Toxic Neuropathy Natalie Koler 2-26-11 Acute Toxic Neuropathy -Axonal polyneuropathy can follow exposure to industrial agents or pesticides Ex: acrylamide, organophosphorus compounds, hexacarbon solvents, methyl bromide, carbon disulfide; metals such as arsenic, thallium, mercury, and lead; drugs such as phenytoin, perhexiline, isoniazid, nitrofurantois, vincristine, & pyridoxine in high doses -Need detailed occupational, environmental, & medical histories -Recognition of cluster cases is also important for diagnosis -Treatment-prevent further exposure to the causative agent
