Mogul style of miniature painting. Note the sense of depth, muted colors, blended colors, realistic and individualistic faces, and the body postures, side-view and oblique.

Mogul miniature, this shows emperor Akbar in his daily meeting with subjects of his realm, hearing and granting to them their petitions and in general seeing what he can do for them. In the Mogul miniatures we find that the artists were fond of crowd scenes. Compare with Color Plate #1, also Figure 7.2.

Mogul miniature showing emperor Janghir on an hourglass shaped throne. He is seen giving a copy of the Koran to a moslem divine while a younger moslem looks on. Below him is an English envoy and the artist himself. Again, note the muted colors, realistic faces, body postures, etc.

Mogul miniature showing a crowd scene before the throne of emperor Akbar. The upper part of the crowd are Europeans, probably traveling through on the Silk route. Akbar was fond of meeting with Europeans which shows something of his active and curious mind.
