Confucianism: Confucianism as a way of life places a high amount of emphasis on social integration as a resolution for religious conflict. Confucius based his method on the assumption that lawlessness and social problems result from the combination of unenlightened individuals and a social structure without norms. He had a very universal view on how society should function as a whole. I. System of Relationships 5 fold: a. Ruler and Subject b. Father and Son c. Husband and Wife d. Older Brother and Younger Brother e. Older Friend and Younger Friend II. 10 Attitudes Governing the 5 Relationships a. Benevolence in rulers and loyalty in subjects b. Love in father and filial piety in the son c. Righteous behavior in the husband and obedience in the wife d. Gentility in Oldest brother and humility and respect in the younger e. Humane consideration in elders and deference in juniors Confucianism entails that the ultimate personal harmony in life is defined by the 5 fold relationships described above.
