DRIVING FROM THE PASSENGER SEAT Over the ten glorious years I’ve been married my wife still tries to drive from the passenger seat. I myself do the same thing. When I drive I sometimes exceed the speed limit. When this happens my copilot lets me know. Usually I hear, “kids we might make it there if daddy doesn’t crash us first”. When I say something about her speeding she tells me to pay attention to the kids not her. This banter happens in a lot of couples. In the book “Men are from Mars Women are from Venus”, John Gray states that he believes men and women have different characteristics when it comes to communication. In my experience it seems that men want to be the ones that do the driving so they can prove their abilities. Sometimes this doesn’t work out the way we want. It’s almost impossible for a man to ask for help. In the meantime, a woman will offer her opinion on where to go regardless if asked for it or not. If a woman gets lost it is the man’s fault.
