Experiment 17 TUNED AMPLIFIER AND OSCILLATOR OBJECTIVE To study the characteristics of a tuned circuit, a class C amplifier, anda radio-frequency oscillator. Part 1 C onnect the circuit show in Figure 1, and apply a sinusoidal signal of about Vp-p to the base of the transistor at a frequency of about 455khz. What is the voltage gain of the ckt? Gain=400mv/500mv=0.80 How large is the dc component of the voltage across the collector resistor compared to the rf signal? DC Voltage=15-(VoDC)=15-10.5=4.5V Part 2 Bypass the emitter with a 0.2μF, as shown in Figure 2. What does the collector waveform look like now? Part 3 Bypass the 10k resistor in the collector circuit with a 0.01μF capacitor, add the tuned circuit as sh ow in Figure 3, and remove the 0.02μF capacitor bypassing the emitter. Vary the frequency of the sinal generator until a maximum in signal strength is obtained across the tuned circuit. Q=f/∆f=455/6=75.83
