How is adding radical expressions similar to adding polynomial expressions? How is it different? Provide a radical expression for your classmates to simplify. Consider participating in the discussion by simplifying your classmates’ expressions. Detail what would have happened if the expression was not simplified first. It is very important to simplify radical expressions before adding and subtracting for a couple reasons. One of the reasons is that you may be able to turn the radicals into like terms which are then much easier to deal with and also simplifying them before adding them will save some hard work. These radicals are similar to polynomial expressions (especially the fractional ones) because they have to have a like term or base to be added or subtracted from each other.
