Social stratification SS101 Stratification-levels, layers Also known as:  o Status o Social ranks o Strats o Strata  o Classes Every society has social stratification one way or another, it helps them work Its an inevitable thing  The more access you have to society’s rewards as you go up social ranks What determines these things are status factors Berger’s social coordinates Different coordinates of different types of people that will determine and  influence access to society’s rewards which is the social rank of these  individuals  Status factor o Wealth  What you for a living has a lot to do with what you contribute to society  Different societies have different status factors  Culture: something’s are valued more than others  2 types of status factors
