Emergency Procedures 1. What constitutes an emergency? a. Medical Emergency – an urgent condition in which someone is hurt and requires professional medical care. b. Non-Medical Emergency – an urgent condition in which property is damaged, and professional assistance is needed to prevent further damage or injury. c. Medical Incident – a condition in which someone is hurt (minor cuts, bruises, etc) but professional emergency care is not required – first aid is enough to properly treat the condition. d. Non-Medical Incident – a condition in which property is damaged, but professional assistance is not needed to prevent further damage or injury. 2. What should I do for an emergency/incident? a. Medical Emergency – Call 911 immediately. Stay with the injured person and stay connected with the 911 operator until professional help arrives. Report the incident to the Other Emergency Contacts (below) as soon as reasonably possible after the emergency passes.
