Hi Professor Burton, I hope you are doing well and you are keeping those 101 AND 411 guys on their toes! I thought you would like to know that I had an interview today for a Senior Graphics Design position at the University of Texas in Austin. The interviewers last question for me was if I had ever heard of Tufte. I smiled and said yes, and we proceeded to have a five minute conversation about Tufte, his principles, and your CGT 101 class. She was impressed and said that I was the only candidate who knew who he was. I guess what I'm trying to say to your students is that every bit of knowledge is useful, and that Tufte's principals still hold true today in matters of design and communicating information. I know you'll enjoy this story, and you'll probably show it to your class to make sure they do their homework. Anyway, I hope that life is good and keep challenging your students! You are one of the few professors that truly challenged me, and I can't thank you enough for all the things you have taught me.
