Whos my point of contact to collect the trophy?!!! 4 In the 1960s, in response to the launch of the sputnik, John F. Kennedy challenged the Americans to put a man on the moon by the end of decade and bring him back to earth safely. In the 21st century, our challenge is to again reaffirm our technological and science leadership on the worldwide stage. As a leader in your College and Department, you are constantly challenged with nurturing your students and enriching their learning experiences so that they can transition successfully to a high performance workplace. Wouldnt it be great if students could gain hands-on learning experiences building real world projects while at the same time applying their innovation and creativity to solve some of the toughest problems facing the world the challenges that people around the world face day in and day out ranging from local issues like poverty, hunger, illiteracy and wellness to broader, large scale issues like global warming, environmental sustainability, combating epidemics and improving child and maternal health Welcome to the IMAGINE CUP! In the pages that follow, we have set out to provide you with information on what is commonly referred to as the Olympics of STEMD and why you should consider forming a team or two with your best students to represent your school in the Imagine Cup Software Design Invitational Challenge. Here's how: > 500 million people will be lifted out of extreme poverty . > 300 million people will no longer suffer from hunger . > 30 million children & >2 million mothers will be saved. > 350 million people will have access to safe drinking water . > 650 million people will have the benefits of basic sanitation . 100s of millions more women and girls will lead their lives in freedom , with more security and opportunity .
