Computer Networks Unit 3 Discussion Board Kregg M. Soltow January 20, 2011 American Intercontinental University Please explain the concept of congestion in data networks. Data Network Congestion takes place when a link or node is transporting so much data that its QoS (quality of service) worsens. (Jacobson,1988) Usual effects are delays in queuing, loss of packets and even new connection blockage. Results of blockage and packet loss is that percentage increases in offered load direct to both, small increases in network throughput, and total decrease in network throughput. Please explain the concept of quality of service in data networks. Quality of Service is a traffic engineering term which refers to reserve proviso management mechanisms instead of the originally attained service quality. QoS involves the capability of offering diverse precedence to special data, apps, and users and to even secure a firm determined level of performance to a specific stream of data.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
