Enterprise Networks Unit 1 Discussion Board Kregg M. Soltow February 8, 2012 American Intercontinental University What role has networking played in our personal and professional life? I would say first and foremost is the role of file sharing. Sharing files between computers over a network now allows us as individuals to be much more flexible than using solid state drives. This leads also to the often overlooked but critical task of backing up information. Peripheral sharing is also a key role. By utilizing a network in the home or a business environment, users can share access to such essential devices as printers, scanners and even media writing equipment. Lastly is mobility, and in its own right is probably just as or even more popular then any other role. With the added benefit of mobility that networking gives us, we as users are able to do our tasks not only in comfort but in an environment that doesn’t necessitate the need to be tied down to one place, this is important when multitasking and goes hand in hand with each of the
