IT Project and Team Management Unit 1 Discussion Board Kregg M. Soltow March 25, 2011 American Intercontinental University What are the major reasons for IT project failures? Lack of user involvement is probably the most common of reasons for failure. When users are not involved no one in the organization considers themselves dedicated to a structure, and may even show backlash towards it. Higher management and the users should all be drawn in from the very beginning, and constantly through the maturity. (Kerzner,2003) Of course this involves devotion, those with in a business unit tend to already have full schedules, so they will not be very enthusiastic about appropriating additional time. For that reason management will be required to hold up the assignment to make a point of its importance. Extended timelines for any given project can lead to systems being delivered after the fact and even as far out as to be no longer utilized by the company and otherwise be considered outdated.(Hamilton,2004) The idea is to make timelines short and reasonably
