Page 10 Introduction: Demonstration of quality and reliability is an important element of the quality and reliability plan but is managed as part of the validation plan. The NPI team reviews the validation strategy to ensure that program expectations and constraints are clearly understood. Various validation test are necessary within the database utility and include; Changing an OLE Test, Copy Test, Create Links Test and Viewing Tests. It is also important - prior to running tests - to copy Performance Tests Resource Materials to an area accessible by the primary Tester and others of the like. In particular, the NPI team sets targets for reliability, availability, durability and overall value. The NPI team also establishes certification standards for both internal and external suppliers. At a minimum, the Association of Product Quality Professionals/Production Parts Approval Process (APQP/PPAP) is employed to ensure Caterpillar customers are satisfied upon delivery and in the long run. Demonstration of quality and reliability is also an important element of the quality and reliability plan but is managed as part of the validation plan. A summary of the types of quality tests that should be conducted. Verification of the new designs and validation of the product and processes are resource-intensive and often the NPI teams primary constraints. The NPI strategy team will have developed the strategy for validating the product considering the amount of new content and the reliability of the current product. The NPI team reviews the validation strategy to ensure that program expectations and constraints are clearly understood. For example; what is expected with respect to prototype builds? Are there Pilot programs? Is there Virtual validation? These questions and more will be answered within the validation strategy....
