BUS 485 Strategic Management Course Information: This is a capstone course in business and management that includes the gradual development of a comprehensive and integrative business plan. This course is designed to assist students in their development as managers, servant leaders, and successful strategic thinkers. Management, marketing, accounting, finance, economics, global perspectives, law, and political issues are covered during this course. It is a writing-intensive course that will help students develop competencies such as critical thinking, effective communication, leadership, and global awareness. Design Vision and Mission Describe the Strategic Management Process Module 1: Assigned Readings Text: Hitt, Ireland, Hoskisson, Chapter 1 Module 1: Assignments Executive Summary for the Capstone Project 1) The Capstone Project will consist of the creation of a market entry or a market expansion plan. The final assignment is due by the end of Week Eight. However, each week, the student will write a specific portion of the outlines as described in each module. State clearly what your choice is: A market entry plan (could be new business) or a market expansion plan 2) Review the "Capstone Project" document, located within the Additional Resources folder in Canyon Connect. 3) Create an Executive Summary Draft (750-1500 words with two page maximum) a. Describe briefly the context and your organization. b. Articulate the vision, mission, and strategy of your organization (or business unit or division). c. What are its sustainable sources of competitive advantage? d. What is the business opportunity? How will you make money and how much? 4) Prepare this assignment according to the APA guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required. 5) Your paper must be written with sentences that are double spaced and a font size of 12.
