1. Describe the nature of Zeus. Zeus was the ruler of all Olympian gods. He was god of the sky. He had two brothers Poseidon and Hades. In order to rule all gods, Zeus overthrew his father, Cronus. He also fought his brothers for the position and won, becoming supreme ruler of the Olympian gods. He is most famous for his weapon the thuderbolt which he throws at his enemies. His wife is Hera, who is also his sister. She is goddess of marriage and childbirth. As part of being god of the sky, Zeus is also the rain god and cloud gatherer. He is known as the god of justice and mercy. He protects the weak and punishes the wicked with his thunderbolt. 4. Describe the nature of Poseidon. Poseidon is Zeus’s brother and god of the sea. Once Poseidon, Zeus and Hades’ father was overthrown, Poseidon lost to be god of the sky to Zeus, but was awarded god of the sea. He is second in power to Zeus. He was worshiped by sea travelers and anyone that looked to him for protection when they were at sea. He was married to Amphirite who is a Neried and is the granddaughter of the Titan, Oceanus.
