In this diagram, arrows indicate that the component on the blunt end of the arrow affects the component at the pointy end of the arrow. [email protected] from stretch receptors, as well as all of the other somatosensory signals, are sent to primary somatosensory cortex. Primary motor cortex receives input from somatosensory areas (and other areas as well), and primary motor cortex sends signals through the spinal cord to control [email protected] in spinal motor neurons. Other structures deep in the brain and other areas in the cortex project to the primary motor cortex and play a major role in shaping the output from the primary motor cortex. ...
