Unformatted text preview: What is the impact on western culture over the Indian society? Both positive and negative. To only list the positive would be ridiculously only list the negative would be even more naive. Postive impact: emphasis on development, attention to improved infrastructure, efficiency, management, (great food--ha ha), improved educational systems, sincere efforts to reduce the margin between the poor and the rich, sincere efforts to improve lifestyles of the marginalized, poor, disadvantaged sectors of society, sincere efforts to reduce the plague of India 'corruption', etc.. Negative. Decline in moral values, unhealthy open-ness to immoral sexuality, commercialization of EVERYTHING, materialism....the american dream, and other lies. Acceptance of values that don't translate; clothes, pre-marital sex, etc... India has been mostly a family oriented society, while America has been an individual oriented society....Western influence has eroded this important fabric of Indian culture (especially in the cities of India...metropolitan areas) Warning: The next sentence is going to sound despairingly cynical... A cold lump of poison for breakfast in the morning, would be considered a luxury... There's a thousand different language dialects, a thousand different religious and political factions all too willing to live and die by the sword or nuke, all trying (at least one or two of them is trying) to live together in the middle of where two continental plates are squishing together, causing a living environment just slightly shy of the mythical Hell...!!! And they still have warm hearts, and a great dead-pan sense of humor, God bless those enlightened, likeable, spiritual people of the curry spice realm......
