Sacrifice I. Have you guys’ ever had to sacrifice something for something else or for someone? a. Definition - destruction or surrender of something for the sake of something else. b. Most of the time when we have to sacrifice something, its not something easy i. This makes the sacrifice harder to give up. II. Genesis 22 a. God asked Abraham to give up his only son b. Abraham obeyed even though it must have been hard c. When God saw that Abraham was actually going to do it, he sent down an angel telling Abraham to stop d. God then gave Abraham a ram to sacrifice instead e. How many of you would be willing to sacrifice your son as Abraham was? III. Sacrifice receives rewards and recognition. a. When a soldier in the army dies, it makes news headlines because they gave their life for our country b. In Washington DC there is several memorials for the millions of people who have died for our country. c. Students sacrifice another 12 years to go to school if they want to be a doctor, but now they make tons of money
