Each coil has N turns and is wound such that positive current causes positive flux in the clockwise direction. The permeability of air is denoted 0 μ , the permeability of the magnetic material is 0 r μ μ , where r is the relative permeability of the material. Derive an expression for the electromagnetic force between the U-cores in terms of the geometrical parameters, N , 0 , r and the coil currents 1 i and 2 i . You may assume magnetic linearity, and neglect fringing and leakage flux components.
