Proficiency in C will be very helpful, but if you know a language and are willing to work more the first few weeks, you should be able to master this. Text: Avinash C. Kak, Programming With Objects A comparative presentation of object- oriented programming with C++ and Java Some Additional References: 1. David Brackeen, Developing Games in Java (approx. $28.00 at amazon.com) 2. Andrew Davison, Killer Game Programming in Java (approx. $30.00 at amazon.com) 3. Scott Meyers, Effective C++ (approx. $30.00 from amazon.com) Description: This course will be a hands-on course that will teach you the principles of object oriented programming using the C++ and Java languages. We will also learn some program development tools. If I am succesful in teaching this course, there will be a lot of programming -- at least two assignments/week + a major project of several thousand lines. If you like to program it should be fun!
