Mr. Aaren Yandrich College Composition October 21, 2008 Imitation: Comparison between T.I. and Weird Al Yankovic The obvious main discrepancy in T.I.’s song, Whatever You Like, and Weird Al Yankovic’s imitation of the song is the difference in economic cultures they refer to in their lyrics. T.I. is singing about his capability to spend an extravagant amount of money on “whatever you like.” Weird Al Yankovic insinuates in his version that he is unable to afford the finest things in life, due to the fact that “our economy’s in the toilet.” A few examples of T.I.’s excessive spending on his significant other include, “I’d gas up the jet for you tonight,” as well as, “100K deposits, vacations in the tropics,” and “My chick could have what she want, and go in every store for any bag she want.” Weird Al’s imitation of “Whatever You Like” goes in the completely different direction than T.I.’s original version.
