ENGR 195(II) – Spring 2010 Activity 1 Class 7b Activity 1 – Fibonacci Series Generation In this exercise, you and a partner will practice using the while…end statement to generate the Fibonacci Series. Leonardo Fibonacci was an Italian mathematician who lived between 1170-1240. He traveled on business with his father and was exposed to many different mathematical techniques used throughout the world. Fibonacci collected these ideas in books. His writings introduced Arabic numerals into European mathematics. Fibonacci also made significant contributions to mathematics, in number theory and on recursive sequences. He is most famous for the Fibonacci sequence, in which each number is the sum of the previous two, i.e., 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, . . . 1. Open function_header_template.m in the MATLAB editor and re-save as fib_series.m 2. Draw a flowchart (do not use code in your flowchart) to think through how to develop the Fibonacci Series. Test your flowchart for generating the first 10 values of the series.
