Intro to Physlet: Lab 2 Introduction In this lab we are tasked with taking measurements of different objects using a Vernier caliper. We then were asked to measure the position of a car at different times and graph the points. This is an exercise to help us learn to use measuring instruments and to read graphs. Procedures Since we do not have access to a physics lab, we used compadre.org. On this website we were able to practice using a Vernier caliper, first you put the object at the left end of the caliper and then slide the arm of the caliper leftward until it touches the object. The center portion of the Vernier caliper tells you the length in centimeters and the tenth of centimeters. On the movable arm there are ten 1 mm marks and whichever mark on the movable arm perfectly lines up with a mark on the center portion of the caliper is the hundredths place of the measurement. The caliper is a very accurate measurement tool for very small objects.
